This is an interesting response by Morris...because he fails to answer the question. The entire response is spent attacking the evolutionist position, without saying how life originated. Of course, we already know his position.
Morris does an adequate job of arguing against naturalistic evolution. I agree that naturalistic evolution is impossible. Without some supernatural intervention by God, evolution is impossible. However, many theistic evolutionists believe that this supernatural intervention, with God providing the creation of the first life forms, overcomes the arguments against spontaneous generation of life from non-life. And, since you can believe in evolution, and still believe in an inerrant, infallible Bible, and a literal translation of Genesis, it is perfectly acceptable for them from a theological perspective to believe in evolution.
For the old earth progressive creationist, Morris' arguments here make perfect sense, since both you and Morris believe in creation out of nothing.
If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive salvation, while still believing in an old earth.
