Old Earth Ministries Reviews

Canadian Evangelical Christian Churches

     A review  of their Doctrines page revealed no statements about the creation.  Their Position Statement page contained the following statements on creation;

There are three creative acts of God recorded in the first chapter of Genesis: (1) the heavens and the earth; (2) animal life, and (3) humans created, not evolved.

     Based on this, it appears that belief in theistic evolution would be contrary to their position.  For old earth believers who are progressive creationists, there should be no problems with being a member of this denomination.

The Catholic Apostolic Church in North America  

     This denomination's Beliefs page reveals no statements about the creation.  A search of their website provided no results on creation.  Old earth Christians wishing to attend this denomination should address questions to the local pastor of the church for a more definitive answer.

Celtic Orthodox Christian Church

     The definition page of their beliefs does not contain any statements about the length of the six days of creation.  However, it does contain a statement about evolution being a false religion.  Theistic evolutionists would do well to steer clear of this denomination.  Other old earth believers would do well to inquire about the beliefs from a local congregation they are interested in.

Charismatic Episcopal Church

     A review of their beliefs and statements on their website did not reveal any specifics concerning the length of creation.  A search of their site also did not turn up any documents related to creation.  As there is no requirements in their beliefs about creation, an old earth believer should be accepted by this denomination.

Christ Catholic Church

     Their Statement of Beliefs contain no reference to the creation.  Their list of Basic Faith, which includes their dogmatic articles, contains no references to creation.  Since creation is not addressed, they probably do not consider it an issue of faith, thus an old earth believer should be acceptable to this denomination.

Christ Catholic Church International

     Their Statement of Faith contains no reference to creation, and they appear to hold to the traditional creeds which do not mention a specific belief in creation.   Old earth creationism should be acceptable based on these observations.

Christ Churches International

     A review of their website did not reveal a statement of faith or a doctrinal statement.  A search of their website for creationism terms did not reveal any information.  Given their lack of emphasis on creation, they must not feel that your beliefs in the length of creation are important.  An old earth creationist would probably be accepted in this denomination.

Christian & Missionary Alliance

     Their Doctrinal Statement indicates that they believe in an inerrant Word, and they appear to be conservative in their stance on theology.  The only mention of creation is in paragraph 5, where they say man was made in the image and likeness of God, and he fell through disobedience, and incurred both physical and spiritual death.

     There is no reference in any of their statements that refers to the length of the creative period.  However, a search of their website for the term "creation science" did yield some young earth indications, although nothing conclusive.  Old earth creationists interested in this denomination should approach with caution.

Christian Church of North America

     A review of their What We Believe page revealed no statements about the creation.  However, their home page contains an After Eden cartoon, a product of Answers in Genesis, and there is a link to the Answers in Genesis ministry. 

     Old earth creationists should approach with caution.  Although you could become a member by agreeing with their statement of faith, there would probably be much strife from fellow church members.

Church of Antioch (Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch)

     A review of this basically Catholic denomination revealed nothing about their beliefs of the length of creation.

Church of England

     A review of their "What it means to be an Anglican" page revealed no information for or against old earth creationism.  Based on this, and other Anglican denominations, there should be no problems for an old earth believer and the Church of England.

Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches

     A review of their Doctrinal Essentials did not list any specific instructions for belief in the creation.  Their  39 Articles of Religion does not contain any reference to creation.   A review of their Canon did not turn up any references to creation.   We did find the following statement in their Baltimore Declaration:

The triune God is the holy creator who freely speaks the universe into contingent existence out of nothing (creatio ex nihilo). He is the sovereign Lord, utterly transcending his creation, yet actively immanent within it, guiding and directing it to its eschatological fulfillment in the Kingdom. As creator, God is free to act within his universe, both providentially and miraculously, to accomplish his purposes and ends.

     There is no mention of the method of creation (old or young earth).  Since there is no evidence from their website about the length of creation, there is probably no reason why an old earth believer cannot become a member of this denomination.
