If scientific research seems to contradict what YEC's view as 'conventional geology,' they think it casts doubt upon long ages. In reality, all it means is that conventional geology is adapting to new scientific findings. In addition, YEC's catch these new scientific studies and report on them, prior to the studies having gone through peer review. Things may change after the peer-review process.
