Argument: Ken Ham and others claim that Behemoth in Job 40 was a sauropod
Source: Ken Ham, in The Great Dinosaur Mystery Solved!, pages 69-73
Response:
Since nobody has ever seen the creature God is referring to, it is impossible (even foolish) to try and correlate it to another creature
The Hebrew word does not indicate what it is…it just means a large quadruped animal. We can no more claim that it was a dinosaur, than we can claim it was a hippopotamus
Many Bible scholars say behemoth was a hippopotomus
Behemoth rests under the branches of the lotus tree and takes cover in reeds (Job 40:21). A 70-foot long sauropod could not fit under the branches of a lotus tree, nor would five foot tall reeds provide any cover for him
Job 40:19 indicates that only He that made him (God) can approach him with a sword. This indicates man could not harm him. A sauropod could probably be killed by man. Just like leviathan, this would indicate Behemoth was a mythical creature
