This claim is based on a single reference point, and without the reference material, it is impossible to provide a full answer.
Dating tools, like anything else, can be misused and twisted to the users own preferences
The U-Th method is backed by a vast amount of literature supporting its reliability. One published bad date would not invalidate thousands of other good dates
