The entire column exists in several location on earth, such as in the the Williston Basin of North Dakota

The geologic column can be pieced together because of the stratigraphic relationship between the layers of rock. It does not have to exist in one geographic spot to be true. If a formation is missing in one location, but present 100 miles away, then the rocks on top of that formation continue the Geologic Column
