Argument:
The footprints in the Coconino Sandstone in the Grand Canyon were made by marine organisms. This proves the sandstone was deposited underwater during Noah's Flood, and not from a desert environment

Response:
This is an argument from necessity. The young earth model for the flood requires that all rock layers in the Grand Canyon be deposited by Noah's Flood. This requirement forces the young earth creationist to twist the data to show that it was a water-deposited formation. Having a wind-blown, desert formation between other flood deposited layers is contrary to the young earth model. Therefore, no matter what the evidence, they cannot allow it to be interpreted as a wind-blown desert deposit
There is much evidence that the footprints are made by terrestrial reptiles.
The tracks have bulges or sand crescents on one side, proving they were made on inclined surfaces
There is evidence of loping, running, and galloping gaits, which can only be made in a terrestrial environment
Tracks from spiders, centipedes, millipedes, and scorpions occur abundantly, which are terrestrial organisms
The Coconino contains raindrop impressions
The author of the work quoted by the young earth creationists did not conclude that the tracks were marine or desert
