Argument:
English explorer James Bryce found a four foot long tooled piece of wood on Ararat at the 13,000 foot level in 1876
Source: Tim LaHaye and John Morris, The Ark on Ararat, 1976. pp. 51-55
Response:
Many expeditions in the 1800s carried wood up the mountain. Several crosses were erected, and buildings were built. Bryce may have merely found some of this wood. Bryce himself even seems to not believe it was from the ark
There have been no studies on this wood to attempt to show that it dates from the period of the Ark, nor to even see if it was gopher wood
