Argument: 

Flood myths and legends exist within many civilizations around the globe.  This is proof of common ancestry from Noah, and the passing along of the flood story

  1. Old earth creationists (those known as progressive creationists, and even some theistic evolutionists) believe we are from a common ancestor (Noah) and they believe in the Flood of Noah (a local flood).  Therefore, flood myths present no problems for old earth creationism (Flood myths make no claims concerning the age of the earth...they only claim the flood happened)

  2. The flood myths vary greatly, and cannot be said to come from a common myth that started them all.  Therefore, no solid conclusions can be drawn from them
