On 1 February 2006 Answers in Genesis daily feature reported on an article in News Current, a children's publication of God's World News, concerning the Creation Museum that Answers in Genesis is building in Kentucky.1 Answers in Genesis reprints this article in full on this web page. Answers in Genesis tells how many in the media have visited the new museum. As the opening nears, this will increase, as many in the media will portray the true nature of the museum...poor science.
This article clearly shows the young earth agenda...to capture the hearts and minds of young people with young earth propaganda (many would say "brainwash" them). The author gives the Seven C's, an error-filled synopsis of a new young earth theology. To read more on the Seven C's, click here.
The author says that "The Creation Museum will include archeological digs, Mount St. Helens, the Grand Canyon, the Sta … hey, watch out for that velociraptor! Where was I? Oh, yes … the Stargazer’s Room, the Time Tunnel, the Creation Walk, the Special Effects Theater, the Reformation, the Six-Day Creation Theater. And that’s just for starters." Oh yes, this will definitely thrill young people. At least, until they reach college, and start learning the truth about science. At this point, they will view all that they were ever taught is a lie, and many will abandon young earth creationism, and unfortunately, the church as well.
It does not need to be this way. You can accept the Bible as the written, inerrant Word of God, and interpret Genesis literally, and believe in an old earth, and all the science that goes with it. If the Creation Museum taught this, with valid science showing an old earth, we could save all these young ones from a life of confusion.
This article is meant for children, thus I won't provide a specific rebuttal to the ideas here. If you are interested, here are some of the things mentioned in the article.
