Creation Science Rebuttals

    In providing answers to feedback submitters, the purpose of Answers in Genesis is to provide a thorough rebuttal to an old earth idea (or atheistic idea), so that their own young earth believers will be edified and emotionally pumped up.  Before Answers in Genesis split into two organizations earlier this year, their main feedback reviewer was Jonathan Sarfati, who was ruthless in his treatment of feedback submitters.  So far, I appreciate the new reviewer, Bodie Hodge, who treats the submitter with more respect than Sarfati did.

     In most of the points in this particular article, they represent a difference of opinion, thus it would be pointless for me to point out errors, as the young earther will not accept my words.  However, a few comments are in order.

     In this particular article, the submitter is saying that he reconciles faith and science by taking the Bible as allegory, where the message, and not the literal meaning, is what matters.  The submitter does not realize that you can take the Bible literally, and believe in an old earth.

     The young earth establishment has educated our church populations well, but in spreading their message, they have actually hurt the church.  They have presented the opinion that either you accept a young earth (and a literal translation), or you don't, and accept evolution, and old ages (and not a literal translation).  This either/or choice that they make people take forces many out of the church.  However, it need not be that way.  I accept a literal Genesis, and an old earth.  Many theistic evolutionists also accept a literal Genesis and an old earth.  You don't need young earth creation science to believe in a literal translation of Genesis. 

     Although I disagree with the submitter of this feedback, I also disagree with the choices that young earth ministries and advocates are giving to our young people.  When they go off to college, and learn the truth, they give up their beliefs, in the face of cold hard facts.  It need not be that way. 

     The words of Billy Graham sum it up perfectly. 

I accept the Creation story. I believe that God did create the universe. I believe that God created man, and whether it came by an evolutionary process and at a certain point He took this person or being and made him a living soul or not, does not change the fact that God did create man. ... whichever way God did it makes no difference as to what man is and man's relationship to God."
