On 3 April 2006 Answers in Genesis announced that "Another prominent church leader comes out to support the Creation Museum."1
John MacArther, the pastor of Grace Community Church in California, and a popular author and speaker, came out of the closet in support of the Creation Museum. Most of this article is a glowing acclimation of MacArthur's works and his impact in the church across America.
While I agree that MacArthur is a great speaker and author, and I have listened to him on many occasions, his expertise in creation science is non-existent. In 2001, MacArther ventured into the creation science arena, by publishing a book titled The Battle for the Beginning. I can honestly say that this is one of the worst young earth books I have read. It contains very little in the way of logical arguments, and even less science. Its main point is made via a strong emotional appeal to believe in a young earth. Christians everywhere can benefit in their walks with Christ by listening to MacArthur, but be careful when he ventures into creation science.

If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive salvation, while still believing in an old earth.
