On 7 April 2006 Answers in Genesis published their weekly feedback article, in which they answer questions from a person who submitted feedback to their website.1 This particular week, Jason Lisle answers the questions of a submitter who claims that if you accept the Bible on Faith, and its miracles, then you deny science.
On this rare occasion, I can say that I agree with Dr. Lisle and Answers in Genesis. He does a good job of presenting the case for miracles. In short, since God created the universe, and the laws that normally govern it, then it only stands to reason that the creator could change these laws when he saw fit.
I realize that there are old earth creationists who will look for a naturalistic explanation for every miracle in the Bible. I do not believe this is prudent, nor necessary. Clearly if God could create the universe, he could feed 5,000, creating food from almost nothing, or turn water into wine. If a Christian needs a naturalistic answer for every miracle of the Bible, he has erred somewhere in his Christian training.
Jesus came to perform many signs and wonders, including raising people from the dead. Lazarus, who had been dead four days, clearly eliminates any naturalistic answer...as does the death of Jesus and His resurrection. Why would a Christian accept the resurrection, and then look for naturalistic answers for everything else? It makes no sense.

If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive salvation, while still believing in an old earth.
