Creation Makes Better Science

     The 16 January 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments discusses a long laundry list of topics which are supposed to make better sense when understood within a young earth creation science framework.

     The Creation Moments author rattles off argument after argument, none of them valid for proving the earth is young.

1.  Life has never been observed to develop (mutate).  There are numerous examples of mutations.  Naturally YECs would not accept these as valid.

2.  The Moon has moonquakes, gravity, and internal heat.  None of these things support a young earth.  The old earth explanation for the moon accounts for all these things.

3.  Geologic rock layers were laid down by the Flood - In a word...impossible.  To read more, see Stratigraphy, Coconino Sandstone, Navajo Sandstone, No Chalk, etc.

4.  Blending Strata.  One rock layer below another...they blend together gradually.  Only rapid deposition during the Flood could do this.  No, we actually see this in action today.  It is much better explained via old earth geology.

5.  Language.  If it evolved, why are the most ancient ones the most complex.  First, most old earth Christians would believe the languages originated at Babel, so this argument is only against atheistic evolution.  For evolution, I would think that the ancient languages would be more complex.  The longer the language has been around, the more simple it becomes as man improves upon it (I'm not talking about "volume of words" but the language structure).

6.  Religion.  This is completely free from the scientific arena.  As man multiplies, so does religions, so this is what's expected anyway.

     As a Christian, I agree that the Bible's account of history makes more sense, however, the young earth version of that history does not make any sense.  You cannot reconcile the young earth viewpoint with the scientific evidence (unless you ignore most of the evidence, or misinterpret it, which is how young earth creation scientists get away with it).
