The 24 January 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments discusses the many things we learn from creation.
Up front, they make the claim that if evolution were true, we would find evidence of less sophisticated designs in the distant past. We do. We also find complex things in the past. Young earth creation science only focuses on the complex life of the past. I will admit though, there does appear to be more complex organisms than simple ones in the Cambrian explosion. That is one of the reasons I am a progressive creationist. However, we cannot be dogmatic on this issue, because we know the fossil record is incomplete. The simple, transitional forms may have existed...we just haven't found them yet in the fossil record. Therefore, if you want to believe in theistic evolution, there are no good arguments against it, so go ahead.
The Creation Moments author mentions the 4-1 ratio of objects moving through a medium. He also mentions the horseshoe crab, beetles, frog eyes, and the fly. All these are examples of things that scientists have learned from creation in order to improve the design of man-made objects.
As Christians we should thank God for discoveries from His creation that help us. However, as is typical of Creation Moments claims, this is strictly a "God of the Gaps" type argument. Presenting such an argument in defense of creation is a pointless exercise in futility...it will strengthen those who already believe, but will do nothing to argue for your position with the atheist or old earth creationist.
