Fake Spider

     The 14 February 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments discusses a species of fruit fly which mimics the jumping spider territorial claim posture.

     When a jumping spider is near, it mimics the appearance of another jumping spider, causing the spider to back away.  The claim is that the fly requires a great knowledge about the behavior of the spider, and it could not have developed this on its own.  However, evolution has no problems explaining this through natural selection, despite the claims of young earth creation science.

    This claim is typical of Creation Moments claims.  It is strictly a "God of the Gaps" type argument.  Presenting such an argument in defense of creation is a pointless exercise in futility...it will strengthen those who already believe, but will do nothing to argue for your position with the atheist or old earth creationist.
