Garlic Medicine

     The 27 February 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments had to do with garlic, and its wonderful properties as a dietary supplement.  The fact that garlic is good for you, and may aid in keeping cholesterol low, has been known for quite some time.  The authors claim that God stocked the world with good plants, to counter the effects of disease and death in the world, which was a result of sin.

     This line of reasoning may be true, and we can indeed thank God for garlic.  However, since this has nothing to do with the age of the earth, it is irrelevant.  In fact, using this line of reasoning, that God stocked the earth with good plants, then why do we also have poisonous plants, which are not good for man?

     While I agree that garlic is a marvelous creation, and Christians can marvel and praise God for it, it has no impact for the age of the earth.  As is typical of Creation Moments claims, this is strictly a "God of the Gaps" type argument.  Presenting such an argument in defense of creation is a pointless exercise in futility...it will strengthen those who already believe, but will do nothing to argue for your position with the atheist or old earth creationist.
