     The 2 March 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments had to do with bats.  They mentioned bats in culture, and say that Martin Luther marveled at them.  They claim that one-fourth of all mammals God created are bats, and they give some statistics related to the varying sizes of bats.  Most of all, the point of this article gives the fact that bats eat a lot of insects...insects which would plague us if the bat were not around.

     While I agree that the bat is a marvelous creation, and Christians can marvel and praise God for these creatures, bats by themselves do nothing in the debate of the age of the earth.  As is typical of Creation Moments claims, this is strictly a "God of the Gaps" type argument.  Presenting such an argument in defense of creation is a pointless exercise in futility...it will strengthen those who already believe, but will do nothing to argue for your position with the atheist or old earth creationist.
