The 3 March 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments discusses the story of creation as told in the legends of the Delaware Indians.
I agree, there are striking similarities between their creation legends, and the story told in Genesis. Just as young earth creationists believe, I believe these Indians are descended from Noah, and the story of creation has been passed down from generation to generation. The verbal telling of this legend is the probable reason that there are differences.
Although this story supports Genesis, it does not support young earth creation science. There is nothing in this creation/flood legend that has anything to do with the age of the earth, nor does it claim that there was a global flood.
As Christians we should thank God for these confirmations of His story, but we should not jump to conclusions where they do not. No issues for the age of the earth are in this story, so we cannot say they prove a young earth.
