     The 15 March 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments discusses the interaction of plant root systems.

     The author gives information on how plants seem to know where their own root system is.  When a plant root encounters a root from another of its species, it stops growing.  However, when it encounters a root from itself, it knows that it is its own root, and it continues to grow.  Also, some plants can actually hinder the growth of other species.

   While this information on plant roots is fascinating, it has nothing to do with the creation account.  Evolutionists will have no problem explaining this root behavior, and of course, theistic evolutionists will see it as evolution under the watchful eye of God.

     As Christians we should thank God for the way He designed plants and the way they can interact with one another.  However, this claim is typical of Creation Moments claims.  It is strictly a "God of the Gaps" type emotional argument (this is wonderful...God must have done it).  Presenting such an argument in defense of creation is a pointless exercise in futility...it will strengthen those who already believe, but will do nothing to argue for your position with the atheist or old earth creationist.
