Bamboo's Message to the World

     The 24 May 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments claims that bamboo is an excellent testimony for a recent creation.  The reason for this is that bamboo rarely flowers, but when it does, all plants of the same species flowers at the same time, no matter where in the world it is located.   It is argued that if it were millions of years old, the plants would no longer be in perfect synchronization.  

     The claim that it flowers all over the world at the same time could not be substantiated.  It is true that certain species do flower at the same time in a geographic region.  Either way, while this is interesting, evolutionists have pointed out that this is probably due to the fact that limiting the time range limits the effect of predators on the seed, and it also serves to prevent predators from relying on a steady source of food.

        Christians need to understand that they can accept evolution, if they choose to, and believe in an inerrant, infallible Word of God.  One great example of a Christian who believed in evolution is C. S. Lewis, the author of the Narnia series.
