Frogfish Evolution

     The 30 October 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments discusses the mystery of the evolution of the frogfish.

     According to the young earth author, evolutionists do not have a clue as to the evolutionary origin of the frogfish.  The author points to the mystery of the fact that the frogfish species do not seem to have a clear relation to each other, nor to any other fish.

     This is a common type of young earth argument.  It basically goes like this...evolutionists don't have a clue about this subject, therefore the young earth explanation is the best one available.  In other words, they are using a lack of evidence for one theory (frogfish evolution) to support their theory (young earth creationism).  However, the lack of support for one theory does not prove another theory correct.  In this case, all this proves is that there is no clear evolutionary picture of the frogfish.  This does not conclusively prove that frogfish were created fully formed.

     This argument does nothing to argue against the belief that God created the animals by using the process of evolution (theistic evolution).  Old earth creationists who believe in progressive creation would believe that the frogfish was created instantly, just as the young earth creationists believe.  Either way, you are free to choose to believe in either method of creation. 

     The bottom line...lack of support for one theory does not prove another theory correct.
