The 31 October 06 daily feature for the young earth creation science ministry Creation Moments discusses the perceived impact of evolution upon our society.
According to the young earth author, sociologists are puzzled at how a smile in one culture is the same as a smile in another culture. The same is true of other emotions as well. How could cultures which arose independently of one another come to the same meaning for human expressions.
This could be a problem for secular evolutionists, but this is not a problem at all for theistic evolutionists. Even in theistic evolution, we arose from a common ancestor, thus the origins of our emotional expressions all have a common origin.
We are all created in the image of God, with the same emotional makeup. We are all descended from common ancestors, Adam and Eve, so we all have the same emotional expressions. The issue of emotional expressions presents no problems for old earth believers.
