This question was published in Dr. John's Q&A by John Morris in November 1996. As a Christian, I fully oppose abortion, as does Morris. Unfortunately, Morris claims that evolutionary thinking is at the core of abortion. However, many Christians who are evolutionists also oppose abortion. While it is true that those who promote abortion are probably evolutionists, evolution is not their rallying cry, although it does give them their excuse to ignore the Bible. To claim that evolution is the core of abortion, however, is not entirely accurate.
I agree with Morris' point of view on infanticide, and equally condemn any notion of this idea. Like Morris, I urge people to go "back to Genesis" and discover our moral foundations. However, one can do this within an old earth creationist framework, just as easily as one can within young earth creationism.
