In this first article in the inaugural issue of Ex Nihilo magazine, the author takes aim at evolution, and the amount of time it would take for life to spontaneously form from non-living matter. To examine this, he looks at figures in the book Evolution: Possible or Impossible?, written by James F. Coppedge.
Evolutionists have always had time on their side, as can be seen in the quote the author uses. Given that we have billions of years to work with, for this process to happen, the "impossible becomes the possible."
The article goes on to examine the amount of time it would take one gene to self assemble. Given the figures from Coppedge's book, the author arrives at an astronomical number, showing that it would virtually be impossible for a gene to assemble itself.
I agree...it would be virtually impossible for a gene to do that on its own. However, it is not impossible for God. Theistic evolutionists, who believe that God started the process of evolution, could have assembled that first gene in a nanosecond.
This article makes a good argument against atheistic evolution, but for the old earth creationist, it presents no problems at all. There is nothing in the article that would argue against old earth creationism.
If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive salvation, while still believing in an old earth.
