Young earth creation science
ministry Answers in Genesis ran an article in the June 2004 issue of
Creation Magazine, in which the mating of a zebra and a donkey produced a
hybrid offspring (the article was the featured article on the Answers in
Genesis website on 1 April 2006).1
In describing the mating of these two animals, the author, David Catchpoole,
is claiming indirectly that it really is a surprise to evolutionists when
these two animal species mate. He ties it to the flood of Noah, and how
donkeys, horses, and zebras must all be descended from the same original
horse "kind" that was taken on the ark by Noah.
I will admit that this is indeed a surprise, but it is no cause for alarm
from old earth believers. Whereas young earth believers think that they are
descended from the "kind" on Noah's Ark, old earth theistic evolutionists
would also believe they are descended from a common horse ancestor, many
millions of years ago. They are both basically using the same argument.
This argument has no value in proving a young earth, as it is equally
effective in proving evolution!

If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a
decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was
contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the
Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive
salvation, while still believing in an old earth.
