Creation Science Rebuttals

     The March 2005 issue of Creation Magazine contained a lengthy article on aliens.¹

    This article is nothing more than an advertisement for a new young earth book, titled Alien Intrusion: UFOs and the Evolution Connection.  The book is by Gary Bates, a self-proclaimed UFO expert, and the Creation summary is by Mike Matthews.

     From the sounds of the book, I believe it would be an interesting read.  From a creationist perspective, both old and young earth believers are probably together on the issue of alien life forms.  Bates apparently makes a connection between evolution and UFO, which should not worry any old earth believers...even those who believe in theistic evolution. 

     In the book Bates apparently explains the "real story" behind issues such as Project Blue Book, Area 51, the Men in Black movies, crop circles, and Roswell.  While much of this is public knowledge, many issues are still debated and have no answers.  It should be noted that although the truth is known about some issues, other issues which Bates discusses are merely the opinion of Bates, and not necessarily the truth.  Unfortunately, the "young earth culture" elevates their experts to an 'infallible' level, and their words are taken as the absolute truth.

A Better Alternative

     While I believe this book would be a good read, from a 'common' level of understanding, there is a book out there which addresses it from a scientific point of view, written by an actual scientist.   Old earth creationist Hugh Ross (along with Kenneth Samples and Mark Clark) wrote a book titled Lights In The Sky and Little Green Men.  It examines key issues from a scientific perspective, such as could life exist on other planets, and is interstellar travel possible.
