In an article on the Creation, Dinosaurs and the Flood website, young earth creation science advocate Charlie Liebert posted an essay that discusses how Noah fit all the animals on the ark.1
In this essay, he relied heavily upon the study done by John Woodmorappe. However, this study is unreasonable and flawed. I will give a link at the end of this article for a thorough discussion, and will only mention a few points here.
Liebert claims that insects were not on the ark. While I agree (from an old earth creationist perspective), this does not answer how some insects could survive the flood. Yes, some have no problems in water, but some are so fragile that they would easily be extinct after a young earth global flood.
Liebert (and Woodmorappe) refer to the "kinds" argument in order to fit all the animals on the ark. In doing so, they are introducing evolution, at a frightening pace, to the world after the flood of Noah. After the flood, you have to produce all the species we have today, from the few "kinds" that were on the ark. Since this is highly subjective, and Woodmorappe could break the "kind" down into two kinds (if one caused a problem), this argument will get nowhere with the dogmatic approach of young earth creationists.
For a thorough review, see Noah's Ark.
