Ken Ham uses his pet project, the Ark Encounter, as an example. Things would be different, though, if YEC were not a part of Christianity. YEC gives non-Christians the opportunity to show how Christianity is out of touch with science, and is in the realm of fairy tales. If all of Christianity accepted long ages, the secularists would not be able to make fun of Christians for rejecting science.

Mechanical Engineer: Physics Points to God's Glory - We agree...but it also points to an old earth. Granted, there are some scientists who believe in YEC. Most of these were raised as YEC, or came under the influence of a YEC at a later point. A scientist who believes in a young earth does not prove that the earth is young...it only proves that a smart person can fall for false beliefs (and be brainwashed). Less than 1 percent of scientists may be YEC, but the remaining 99% believe in the scientific data proving an old earth.
