Argument:
Many young earth creationists say that you have to either believe in evolution, or the Bible, but not both. The two terms contradict each other.
Response:
The Genesis account of creation does not rule out evolution. It even supports it with the way that certain verses are worded. Genesis 1:24 says "Let the earth bring forth living creatures." God commanded the earth to produce living creatures...He did not say, Let there be lions, tigers, etc.
Nothing in the Bible is contradictory to the theory of evolution
Accepting evolution does not harm any of the doctrines of the Bible
Many famous Christians believed in evolution. One of the most recognized is the famous theologian C. S. Lewis, the author of the Narnia series, which was popularized by the movie The Chronicles of Narnia in 2005
If you are not a Christian, and you have been holding out on making a decision for Christ because the Church always preached a message that was contrary to what you saw in the scientific world, then rest assured that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and you can believe in Christ and receive salvation, while still believing in an old earth.
