B414:  You cannot use a word figuratively (yom=ages) until after you have used it literally (day=day)

Edited by Greg Neyman

Argument:

Hebrew language rules state that you cannot use a word figuratively until after it is used literally.  Thus, "day" in Genesis 1 must equal a real, 24-hour day

Source:  Numerous sources

Response:

  1. We have found no such rule in the Hebrew.  It apparently is a rule invented by young earth creationist scholars to support their particular interpretation (anyone with info on this rule, please email to feedback@answersincreation.org).
