Apparently one of the common claims for our bad backs is that we used to walk on all four limbs, and our backs were not designed to walk upright. Like Morris, I disagree with this assessment. As he points out, animals that walk on four limbs have back problems just as we do.
One thing that is interesting in this article is Morris' claim that our back problems are due to the curse put upon man by God, after Adam sinned. If he wants to believe this, he may, but I see no reason to claim this. This is an argument meant to bolster his claim of no pain and suffering (and death) prior to sin, and is merely a guess on his part, not based on any evidence.
