Of course it is...but not in the way Morris claims. Morris starts out with a claim that a similar genetic code, and similar body functions, is better evidence for a creator than it is for a common ancestor. I disagree to a point. Theoretically, I believe this is a neutral issue. However, since we do have similar genetics, this better indicates common ancestry. When considering this for creation, common genetics would appear to indicate a lack of variety, or imagination, on the part of the creator. Why not create genetically diverse creatures...this would indicate even more that a creator is a better answer.
Morris only gives one example of how he thinks creation thinking is good. The area he chooses is oil exploration. Oil companies look for oil, trying to understand the rock layers using uniformitarian, old earth ideas. This process works, as I'm certain Morris understands. However, he thinks using a Flood geology understanding would yield better results. When he tried to sell this to an oil company, they rejected the idea, and rightly so. They did not want to waste their money on a fruitless effort.
Morris mentions that oil company paleontologists study cores, in order to correlate beds or discern ancient shorelines. Geologists understand this principle, and use it to find oil. Morris omits one key point. The oil companies are often able to find these ancient shorelines...shorelines which would not be present if the entire world were filled with water only 4,300 years ago.
You may be saying that there could have been a shoreline from the flood, and indeed you are correct. However, there could not have been a fluctuating sea level, which is responsible for stacking hundreds of shorelines on top of one another. It is no surprise that oil companies rejected Morris' idea...it was a stupid idea.
Morris claims that it is fortunate that he was turned down, and therefore he took a position which eventually led him to ICR. Since his father founded ICR, I'm certain this was Morris' plan all along. Typically, a young earth creation scientist will get some experience in the secular world, write a few research papers so that he can claim that he is a published scientist, and then go to work for the young earth organization.
Other than this one hypothetical scenario, Morris gives no evidence to fully answer this question.
