Question #95. Whose Values are Family Values?

Morris explains that family values today are mixed up, with advocates (politicians) who support them are really amoral. This is definitely true to an extent. However, Morris tries to tie this to creation. He says ""family values are really 'creationist' values given to families by the Creator of families."

I agree with Morris on this statement. God gave us what our family values should be right from the start. However, this is not an age of the earth issue, as old earth creationists recognize this as well.

Morris relates this to marriage, raising children, the benefit of work, abstinence from debt, and the wife's role in the home. I agree, and many old earth creationists will not argue these points. Again, this is not an age of the earth issue.

Next, he contrasts that with evolutionists views, which he implies is the cause of all our social ills. However, these ills were here long before evolution came on the scene. For instance, the first infidelity in marriage surely occurred prior to Noah, and was part of the reason God judged the peoples with a flood. However, the Genesis account does not indicate that these people believed in evolution!

Blaming evolution for societies ills is a cop-out, an easy way of passing the blame for society to the ungodly atheistic evolutionist. The last time I checked, we are all sinners, Christians included.

With that said, I believe as Morris surely does. We should not be silent on family values, and we should work to promote good moral standards within our nations. However, it is not us vs. them all the time. We are all sinners.
