Morris explains the thought concerning this question, based on evidence in the last hundred years. Morris presents more of a summary than an argument, with no challenges to old age or evolution. On a side issue, young earth creationists fit all the animals on the ark by saying that God used "kinds." In other words, Noah did not take a dog, wolf, coyote, hyena, etc, on the ark. He only took one pair of dogs, and all the dog species evolved from the one dog kind. According to the definitions used, man and apes would all be one "kind," therefore Noah would not have to take apes, monkeys, etc, on the ark, as they would all be descended from Noah after he departed the ark!
